The chilly season has definitely struck here in New Zealand (I just heard thunder) and it’s time to break out the winter wardrobe, crank up the heater (or fire if you’re lucky enough), and cozy up to check out my must have items this winter.
Smashbox Jam on it Matte
A seasonal signature lip colour is an absolute must have and Smashbox has just brought out an incredible collection of 36 brand new colours, in matte and cream textures. I love Jam on it Matte, a beautiful plummy red wine. Although it says it’s matte, I find it’s still got a bit of a cream texture to it which makes it easy to apply and non-drying.
Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C
To ward of winter chills try this professional grade Vitamin C. The gel formula encapsulates vitamin C in liposomal essential phospholipids which protects it from destruction in the digestive system and allows it to deliver nearly double the levels of other forms of vitamin C as well as increased absorption. Totally flavourless, just down one sachet first thing in the morning before food
Weleda Nail Care Pen
Protects and intensively cares for nails and cuticles. Organic pomegranate seed oil regenerates while shea butter restores moistre and protective beeswax naturally preserves healthy nails. I use it every night before bed and the beautiful scent send me off to sleep. For the ultimate in nail care, pair this with the Cuticle Softener Pen.
Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique
During the colder months we tend to rely a bit more on our blowdryers and hot tools so it’s important to protect and nourish your hair so it doesn’t get damaged from all the heat. This reinforcing blow dry milk is like a thermo active glaze for the hair which smooths and adds shine while preventing breakage and brittleness.
Wallace Cotton Arrowtown Throw
One of the best things about winter is being able to snuggle up on the couch with a warm blanket and watch Netflix. I just about have a throw on every seat in the house but I’m lusting after this beautiful lambswool throw from Wallace Cotton.
Goodness Every Day Cream Cleanser
In winter skin needs extra care and we tend to wear a bit more makeup which also needs to come off completely at night. A cream cleanser is the way to go to nourish and protect skin through the colder months. I like this natural cream cleanser which is full of natural ingredients like avocado, coconut and chia seed, plus it removes makeup. Use once in the morning and twice at night for a thorough cleanse.
Donna Hay’s Roasted Pumpkin Soup
There is very little more reassuring or restorative than a hearty bowl of soup and this one is a dream to make (I’ve made it 4 times already). Just roast everything in the oven, then scoop out the pumpkin and onion from their skins and blitz up with stock. Finally reheat over the stove and add seasoning. It couldn’t be easier! For full instructions, check out the recipe.
Dermalogica MultiVitamin Thermafoliant
A good exfoliation is one of the best ways to renew your skin. Using thermal technology this exfoliant activates (and warms up) upon contact with water, delivering increased penetration of actives directly into the skin. It also combines physical and chemical exfoliants to professionally polish off dead skin cells and accelerate new cell turnover. It also inhibits the three biochemical reactions responsible for skin ageing.
Ecoya Candle
There is something so inviting about the smell of a beautiful scented candle emanating throughout the house. I always have one going here at the studio and this one embodies the smell of winter (and Christmas, which is where this particular limited edition Fresh Pine Needles candle came from). When it runs out I'll return to my old favourite, Lotus Flower.
