Eye cream is often seen as one of those optional extras to your skin care routine, like an extra credit assignment in high school; not essential but a good thing to do. However, the eyes are extremely delicate and therefore one of the first areas to show signs of ageing; and to me that says ‘make eyes a priority’. It’s not very hard; you just apply a cream around the eye area at night after cleansing and then allow the feeling of absolute smugness in your extra credit skin care achievement to wash over you.
For the last few weeks I’ve been using the Dermalogica Age Reversal Eye Complex which has just officially launched this week. They recommended using it at night so I’ve been doing that, and I started off using it every other night at first to allow my skin to get used to the formula as it’s a bit more active than what I’m used to.
It boasts a pretty impressive Age Reversal Formula, including microencapsulated Retinol (Vitamin A), which is still pretty much the leading ingredient in anti-ageing skin care. It combats pretty much any and ever eye-area skin care concern including dark circles, puffiness (something I get asked about a lot), and of course signs of ageing. It also speeds up cell renewal and stimulates the production of collagen (the building blocks of your skin) which naturally slows down as we age. It also contains Vitamin B3 which reduces inflammation (puffiness) and dark under eye circles, and finally my favourite ingredient of the moment, hyaluronic acid for deep deep deep hydration and soft smooth skin.
It’s a gel-cream sort of texture which blends and absorbs in pretty quickly. It’s fragrance free of course, but in saying that I always find it makes my skin smell so fresh and clean, which I love. This will definitely have a permanent space in my skin care cupboard.
